“The earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed.” — M.K. Gandhi.
YOUTH GREEN CLUB PUNE: That was true a few billion people ago but now with our populace soaring to record heights, this equilibrium has been long disturbed. Not only we have been using our resources carelessly but we have had the guts to look at a climate catastrophe in the eyes and outrightly deny it like an ostrich. We have people who think climate change is a liberal hoax, a political tool, and even that it is not the climate that has changed but rather our tolerance to it.
But at the same time, there are few people who actually are trying to bring a change, who are working selflessly to make our world just the way it should be- green, happy, and pollution-free. A drop of such a sea is the YOUTH GREEN CLUB a Pune-based initiative started by the youth for the youth – for it is us who have to live on the planet and therefore the burden of change lies on us.
There’s a saying don’t wait for the ship to come, swim to it! And these high school boys who founded the Club are a perfect example of it! When the elders are sitting and complaining about how climate change is affecting and how greener and better the earth used to be, the club’s Green Army is actually taking steps towards the big change with numerous plog runs and collection drives. As a journey of thousand miles begins with small steps their goal is making changes at the small levels that could create impacts on a larger scale, signified by their motto- small initiatives, LARGE IMPACTS!
Aim of Youth Green Club Pune:
They aim to work at the most basic of issues that lead to larger problems and to find such effective measures that could affect the big picture. At times where people use paper to tell the importance of saving trees, Y.G.C. aims to bring change with an amalgamation of online and real-world presence. With the tag line, वसुंधराये हरितम ( green earth) Y.G.C. dreams of turning the world green, one sapling at a time..! After all great things aren’t done by impulse but by a series of small things brought together.
Tagline of Youth Green Club Pune:
वसुंधराये हरितम means Green Earth.
